It must be exhausting breaking this many records.
With only songs from her tenth album, “Midnights,” Swift became the only performer in history to hold the top ten positions on the Billboard Hot 100 at once. “Anti-Hero,” the hazy lead single from the album, is followed at No. 1 by “Lavender Haze,” “Maroon,” “Snow on the Beach,” which features Lana Del Rey, and “Midnight Rain.”
In its first week, “Midnights” generated 1.578 million equivalent album unit sales, which was more than enough to propel it to the top spot on the Billboard 200. Since Adele’s “25” sold 3.482 million copies in its first week of sales in 2015, this is the best sales week for any album. It also surpasses Swift’s own “Reputation,” which sold 1.216 million copies in its first sales week in 2017.
Taylor Swift’s eleventh studio album, “Midnights,” which features the “Taylor’s Version” re-recordings of “Fearless” and “Red,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her sole studio album to not debut at No. 1 was her self-titled debut from 2006 (it peaked at No. 5).
Taylor Swift surpassed Madonna to hold the record for most top 10 singles in the Hot 100’s history with 40 top 10 hits over the course of her career. Madonna has had 38 top 10 hits. Drake is the only artist with more top 10 hits than Swift, with 59.
No male artists appeared in the top 10 of the Hot 100 this week for the first time in history, according to ChartData, due to Swift’s dominance this week
On October 25, Taylor debuted the “Cinderella”-inspired music video for “Bejeweled,” which stars Laura Dern, Dita Von Teese, Laith Ashley, Pat McGrath, and L.A. rock band Haim as Swift’s evil stepsisters.
During her recent appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Swift made a hint about a forthcoming tour in support of “Midnights.”
Swift suggested, “I should do it.” We’ll act when the time is right. I long for it.
